This is an ongoing biennial exhibition of contemporary posters that began in 1979. This year 80 artists from 32 countries and 5 continents are exhibiting two posters each from the last two years. Please be sure to check out the second half of our posters in the Curfman Gallery in CSU’s Lory Student Center.
Honor Laureate and Juror, Leonardo Sonnoli has selected three award-winning posters plus three honorable mention awards. When it began, CIIPE was the only international poster exhibition held in the US, and it continues to be covered by national and international newspapers and professional periodicals. Today, this is still the only international poster exhibition that is invitational. Over the years Honor Laureates have included, leading graphic artists Paula Scher and Saul Bass of the US, Vladimir Chaika of Russia, Fang Chen of China, Shigeo Fukuda of Japan, Xavier Bermudez of Mexico, Marta Granados of Colombia and Armando Testa of Italy, among others. The exhibition is free and open to the public. Sponsors are Colorado State University, Poudre R1 School District and the City of Fort Collins and its agencies. CIIPE is a production of the CSU Department of Art.
The purpose of The Colorado International Invitational Poster Exhibition (CIIPE) is to bring world-class contemporary poster art and artists to CSU students and the wider Fort Collins and Rocky Mountain communities. Posters in both Hatton and Curfman galleries are for sale on a first come, first served basis the night of the opening. CIIPE was the first international poster exhibition to be available on-line, and the CSU Morgan Library maintains the CIIPE Archive and website. Begun in 2003, Graphic Reponses, is a parallel, digital exhibition of contemporary posters that may be viewed in the Hatton Gallery, along with Poudre R1 high school posters. The exhibition is free and open to the public.
